Today, we’re going to look at warm water bidets, both electric and non-electric options. For a bidet to cleanse with warm water, it needs to source water from under the sink or come equipped with an integral electric water heater, of which there are several kinds.

The Best Non-Electric Bidet with Warm Water 

These include dual-temperature bidet attachments and non-electric seats. A handheld bidet with a mixing valve could also be put in this category.  

Non-electric bidets that use warm water have a few drawbacks, but if your bathroom allows for the connection, they’re definitely worth considering. 

Bidet attachment: these fit under your current toilet seat without replacing anything.

Bidet seat: you replace your current seat with one with an integral bidet, in a completely reversible installation.

Pros: 

• Endless warm water. Since the water is sourced from the bathroom’s hot water line, it never runs out. As we’ll discuss in a bit, to get this feature from an electric bidet, you have to get one with an instantaneous heater, a component that tends to be limited to luxury bidets. 
• Less expensive than electric bidets (the other warm water option). These will usually run you anywhere from $100 to $120*, whereas electric seats start at around $200. *Note, that’s the typical range, but the recommendation in this article is much cheaper.

Cons: 

• Difficult installation. Since warm water bidets source water from the home’s hot water line, installation of these units is a bit more involved. It might take 15min to install a basic bidet attachment, but it can take up to 45min to set up a dual-temp model. (These are estimates but you get the idea). 
• Limited to certain bathroom setups. This type of bidet can only be installed if the sink is on the same wall as the toilet, since the hot water line would remain draped across the floor forming a tripping hazard. A 90-degree angle could work, I suppose, but it’s not recommended. Also, while rarely an issue, the toilet and sink have to be close enough or the hot water hose won’t reach.  
• May require that you alter the property. Pedestal sinks are ideal with this kind bidet, since any kind of cabinetry around the sink will just get in the way. If your sink has a vanity, you’ll need to drill a small hole, which may be off limits for renters. 
• Risk of scalding. This depends on how hot the tap water can get at your place. My current home has tap water that reaches 120 F (~49 C) which is wayyy too hot for the delicate skin of the nether regions. If your hot water supply is like mine, you can always turn it down, but an electric bidet is the way to go if you’re concerned about scalding since electric units tend to have an upper water temp limit of 104 F (40 C). 
• Lack of features you can get from an electric bidet. If you know where to shop or can catch a good sale, you can often find a good electric bidet for the same price as a non-electric dual-temp bidet seat. Since electric bidets come with way more features (oscillating spray nozzle, heated seats, warm air dryers, etc.), you can get a lot functionality for close to the same price by going the electric route.  
• You have to wait on it to heat up. Since the water comes from the sink, the bidet water has to warm up for a bit just like when you’re washing your hands or jumping in the shower. It’s inconvenient but not a huge deal, since you can always get the water running warm before using the bidet. 

Best Bidet Attachment with Warm Water: LUXE Neo 320

Again, these fit under your existing toilet seat without replacing anything but maybe the mounting hardware. My go-to recommendation for a warm water attachment is the LUXE Neo 320 (Amazon link).  

It costs less than half the prices of the TUSHY Spa, and tends to get better user feedback overall. 

I used this one for a good long while (several months) and can vouch for its effectiveness. 

It has dual nozzles, the extra for feminine hygiene and the nozzles are self-cleaning. To have the nozzles doused in water, just turn the lower dial clockwise each time you use the bidet or if/when you notice the wand is soiled.

Pros:  

• Least expensive option.  
• Fits round and elongated toilets. 

Cons: 

• Creates a gap between the seat and toilet, so you may need spacers in the front. 
• While unlikely, you might need longer bolts to hold the seat and bidet down since this bidet is on the thicker side. 

A thicker bidet is more durable (less prone to cracking over time), so it’s not a bad thing. Also, if it does prove to be a problem, toilet seat hardware is cheap and can be found at Wal-Mart or your local hardware store.

Best Mechanical Bidet Seat with Warm Water: the Brondell SWASH ECOSEAT S102

For a non-electric seat that sprays with adjustable temp, I recommend the Brondell SWASH ECOSEAT S102 (Amazon link). It’s available in round and elongated. 

Pros: 

• Horizontally extending cleaning wands. This type of nozzle setup causes the cleaning wand to extend further in which many report to result in less splashing.  
• Higher-quality cleaning wands. The nozzles have multiple holes for a softer, more dispersed spray pattern which is ideal for feminine cleansing. 
• Cleaner, lower-profile look for the bathroom. The bidet has two small dials on the side of the seat, instead of the bulkier control arm that comes with bidet attachments like the LUXE Neo 320. 
• Sittable lid with a weight limit of 330 lbs. This is a rare feature, and nice to have if you like to sit on the toilet with the lid closed—I.e., for resting and clipping toenails, etc. 

Cons: 

• Bidets of this kind are much harder to install than electric bidets.
• While costing ~60% that of electric bidets, mechanical dual-temp bidets like the S102 offer maybe 10% of the functionality.

Best Handheld Bidet with Warm Water

Handheld bidest are normally the cheapest and easiest to install, but that’s not the case with this particular setup.

Mixing valves are not so cheap so the pair (sprayer + mixing valve) ends up costing about the same as if you just went with the ECOSEAT S102 above.

Also, a warm water line is run from the mixing valve to the hot water shutoff valve under the sink, so the same installation limitations discussed above still apply. I.e., you don’t get the easy installation benefit you’d normally get with a handheld bidet.

Electric Options: Best Bidets with Warm Water and Dryer

Unlike their analog cousins, electric seats bring with them several useful features, not the least of which is an integral water heater.  

You can save over $1K in toilet paper over a lifetime with exclusive bidet use, especially when the bidet has a dryer since TP won’t be needed for drying off. (Note: you can use a towel as well but that carries kind of an ick-factor in my experience talking with bidet users).

The three types of bidet water heaters include: 

• Tank-type water heater: a small tank that stores and heats water for use on-demand. Once empty, the reservoir must refill and reheat which can take a while. The kind typically runs cool after 1min of cleansing (long enough for most single sessions) and costs more to operate since they draw power around the clock to keep the small water tank warm. 
• Instantaneous or tankless water heater: these heat water on the spot so the warm flow never runs out. They only require power when operated so they‘re way more efficient and thus cost less in the long run.  
• Hybrid heaters: these combine instantaneous with tank-type heating technology to offer results that are somewhere in the middle: extended warm water and greater energy efficiency. 

Main benefits of electric bidets:  

• Heated water without the sink hookup. 
• Less risk of excessive tempereratures. 
• A warm air dryer can replace toilet paper completely saving a person ~$1.60 per week which comes to ~$6.50 in savings per four-person household ($75 to $307 annually).
• You can adjust the nozzle position for custom aiming. 
• Oscillating spray modes. Without this feature, the person has to do all the rocking and shifting to get water to all the right places, which can be difficult for less skillful bidet users (e.g., kids) as well as older adults and those with physical limitations.  
• One-button wash modes make it easier for all users, since one button gets the user a generic wash and dry cycle with all of the default settings. 
• Other features like heated seats, etc.

Best Entry-Level Electric Bidet with Warm Water: Alpha GX Wave  

For an entry-level bidet I always recommend the Alpha GX Wave bidet seat (also available here). It has a fixed side panel instead of a remote which helps bring the price down. It’s available for round and elongated toilets.

It has a hybrid water heater that reaches 104° F.  

The Alpha GXR is the same but it has a remote control, which adds ~30% to the price (Amazon link). 

Electric bidet seats like the GX and GXR come with all of the functionality of non-electric units, along with extra perks like a warm air dryer, cozy heated seat, nozzle oscillating and massage modes, and adjustable nozzle position for accurate aiming, etc.  

Despite being marketed as an entry-level bidet, the GX/GXR comes with a hybrid heater for extended warm water flow.

The GX/GXR is counted among the strongest electric bidets on the market in terms of water pressure, having a flow rate of 1L per minute via the Rear+ setting.  This allows for more effective cleaning and can act as an enema mode for constipation relief. 

The warm air dryer of the GX and GXR is described as being stronger than usual, allowing you to easily replace TP altogether. This can save big in the long run.  

I like the soft white nightlight. For those who have to make frequent trips to the restroom at night, it’s nice not to have to turn the blinding bathroom lights on.

Another great option is the Brondell LE99 bidet seat (Amazon link).  

For about 3x the price of the S102 (an inexpensive non-electric bidet) you get a bidet with about 10x the capabilities, like a warm air dryer, hybrid water heater, oscillation and massage spray modes, built-in toilet-illuminating nightlight.

It comes with user presets to save your preferred settings so you don’t have to press the same buttons every time you use the bidet. 

Unlike the GX, the LE99 has a wireless remote. It offers several features missing in the GXR, so I recommend it as the best premium or mid-tier electric option.  

The hybrid heater provides extended warm water in the range of around 91° F to 102°F. It offers a 2 min wash cycle which is longer than usual (you can stop it before the two minutes).  

The bidet has a high-pressure turbo mode, though it’s not as powerful as that of the GX/GXR. But plenty powerful for most users and can be used for constipation relief.

The LE99 also has a gentle sitz bath wash mode that provides a longer, softer stream of water for soothing irritated skin such as with GI issues like hemorrhoids.
